The first thing you need to know if you want to develop a new healthy habit is why. Why do you want to start a new healthy habit? You should have one or more reasons as your motivation. If you don’t, pick one that will work for you and stick with it.

When you want to develop a new healthy habit, it’s important to know your motivations and intentions. Knowing what you want out of the habit will help you figure out which steps you need to take for success. For example, if your goal is weight loss, you should be more strict with how many calories you eat. For instance, Mondays can be packed with sandwiches or salads; Tuesdays are pasta days; Wednesdays are stir-fry days; Thursdays are pizza days; Fridays can be leftovers, and Saturdays and Sundays can be free days where anything goes.

Additionally, set specific times when you’ll commit to following your new healthy habit so that it becomes routine over time. If we’re going back to our example of packing lunches on Mondays, make sure that each Monday morning has a specific time on your calendar dedicated to prepping your food for the week. This way, planning ahead allows for fewer excuses when it comes time for meal prep!
